Down 'N Out at the Idiot
We love the bartenders at (sadly, now closed) legend Village Idiot for a lot of reasons. They have to be tough, to put up with the hardwork of hauling ice and cases of beer as there are no barbacks but themselves. They have to be friendly to the throngs and throngs of drunks that pack the place. And they must be fast and quick with a drink -- or they'll get canned.

We have been going to this joint since Tommy moved it to Ninth Ave. and W. 14th Street from the East Village about 9 years ago. It's a classic dive bar.
